I can't remember the title, artist, or lyrics, so this is a shot in the dark. It was an Americana song, female sung. It was possibly more toward the Iris DeMent/John Prine end of that spectrum than the alt.country end. It was a somewhat comedic story song recounting the lust and excitement of a young couple saving themselves for marriage.

Other things I remember... The groom drinks too much the night before his wedding. The bride is mad. There's a recurring thing with the groom basically promising to blow her mind when the time comes, though not in those words.

Ring any bells for anyone?

I want to say the song was 90s or 00s.

Response by poster: I found it myself! I knew I'd had it on a Spotify playlist at one time and I'd forgotten to save the track. It occurred ot me there might be a way to recover deleted Spotify playlists. There is, and that helped me find it right away.

The song is Get Ready, Marie by Patty Griffin.
