Kitty needs a name!

I have a new family member and she needs a name!

The kitty is a one-year-old ragdoll. She's still growing and will soon have a fluffy tail and ruff. She is sweet and affectionate. She's purring and leaning on me as I type this.

Pictures.

Myrtle! This is both a pretty name and an onomatopoeia for cat noises.

She looks like a very dainty lady. I would perhaps name her Grace or something flower-like, perhaps Pansy or Petunia.

The way she's sitting and looking in that last picture reminds me of the portrait in Vertigo.

I think you should name her Purr so she has a name she can try to live up to.

So, in horse markings parlance, that white tuft on her forehead is called a "star." I'd be tempted to call her Stella as a result. Or, less accurately but more fun for a cat, Blaze.

Awwww is a kitty. Such kitty. Awwww...

I vote for not naming her at all for a few weeks if you can hold off that long. You will find you end up calling her something naturally, and then that can be her name. For example, we chose our cat's name very carefully and I swear we have never, not once, used it. We usually call her Fishface. This is not her name. But clearly, we should have named her Fishface. Her name will come to you.

(I comes and steals your kitty.)

Say a few of your favorite name ideas to her. She'll let you know which one she likes. That's what my Ginny did :)

I feel like she needs a flower name. Maybe Hyacinth or Poppy?

Or maybe Magnolia. Then you could call her Mags for short.

Aww, she's adorable. I was also coming here to suggest something stellar-related for that gorgeous star mark on her forehead--Stella is great, and I love Estelle/Estela too. Some other female names that mean star: Sitara, Najma, Izarra, Seren.

Nthing Madeleine or Sophie! (I had a gray-and-white [not Ragdoll] kitty named Madeleine who was a great kitty, so I'm biased toward the name.)

Maybe it's a little on the nose for a ragdoll cat, but she kind of looks like a Dolly to me. As an added benefit, you could sing "Hello, Dolly!" to her.

Wow so many suggestions! I've made a list of my favourites to try on her. I really like non-people names, too, but have brain-block when thinking of them. Except for like, Hordak, but she's not really a Hordak kinda cat.
