Austrian farm weird stakes?

Austrian Tyrolean farm question: I saw something which I can't google on my Alps train ride. Can you help me?
I saw a series of small sheds on alpine farms between St Anton and Innsbruck. In these sheds were stacked row upon row of what I can only describe as "F shaped" stakes. Looked to be about 3 feet high. Train was going fast and I didn't take a picture. I cannot find anything on Google to help me. Can you?

Best answer: Were they Heinzen or Heureiter? They are used to dry hay.
