Rescue dog transport to Omaha

Hi. I'm losing my home and I need to rehome my adult german shepherd. Thankfully a friend in Omaha offered to take her. Does anyone know of any rescue organizations or people that might be willing to transport her from Utah or Colorado to there, preferably for $300 or less?

You could search Facebook for rescue groups on both ends, and veterinarians are usually familiar with rescue groups. If one group can't help you, ask if they know of any others. Even groups that concentrate on one particular breed might help you, even if yours isn't that breed.

I'm so sorry you're having to do this. Best of luck getting back on your feet!

I transport dogs for rescues weekly (but only in Illinois, so I have no contacts out of state, sorry). There is a vast network of people who do this. Many of us do it for free, or for gas money. Start calling rescue groups in your area, and ask if they know of transporters, or google "rescue transports" + omaha (or whatever town in CO or UT).

My one suggestion is to not pay some random person to do this, unless it's someone you can personally vet. Find a group with experience organizing transports.

Also keep in mind that you'll need to provide a health certificate for the dog if its traveling out of state. That means it must be current on all vaccinations, with documentation that travels with the dog. Some rescues require additional vaccinations like Bordetella (kennel cough).

It's Distemper season...so many rescues are even more vigilant than usual.

Response by poster: We ended up meeting in the middle and now she's with great folks that know what they're getting into with her. Thanks for the help!
