Quiet Space to Record between Concord and Framingham, MA

Friend and I are doing a recording and need a quiet place where we can close the door somewhere between Concord and Framingham, MA on weeknight evenings.

I'm trying to find some place cheap or free. There are some Regus centers around, but they only have reservations up to 5pm, so doesn't appear to be an option for evenings (and are more expensive than "free"). I'm waiting to hear back from a couple public libraries, though they seem to be first-come-first-serve for their study rooms (which would otherwise be perfect!). Public areas of cafes or coffee shops really aren't an option, as we will get quite animated during the recording, so it will be distracting to others--so hence the need for a door we can close.

Any general ideas for types of places to look for? Or specific suggestions of a location in the area?

Response by poster: Should note: this is a conversation-type recording (i.e. podcast) not a music-type recording, if that make s difference for any suggestions. And we just need a room--no equipment, etc.

Do you need this to just be a one-time thing or do you need something that is available on an ongoing basis? You might also want to look at places like Community Colleges such as Framingham state which would have libraries with more facilities that might be open to the public. Not partway between but might get you started in the right direction. Also might be a good thing for MeFi Jobs depending on how casual you want to be with this. Lots of MeFites in that area.

I think the libraries are somewhat keyed giving preference to local, er townies/residents. So I'd investigate your local library first, I'm pretty sure I've seen that reservations are possible. And except for finals week when the tutors take over I've almost always seen empty conference rooms.

A bit pricey but the workbar places are really nice.

Some hotels may let you use a room for interviews if you offer to give them thank-you credit.

Response by poster: We usually do this on the weekend, so can go to one of our homes in that case, but because of scheduling conflicts ended up having a midweek session that, due to commuting patterns, would best to do NOT at our homes. So, immediately a one-time need, but depending how it goes, might become ongoing.

Not sure of your situation, but parked cars make great sound booths in a pinch.

Response by poster: One of the public libraries ended up coming through, making an exception on their usual first-come,first-serve, rules on the study rooms, allowing us to make a reservation.

I'll be sure to leave something in their "friends of the library" collection bin.
