Inguinal Strain?

So for the last few weeks I've been having some minor testicular pain. Like every 10k steps one step will give me a twinge or something. Or if i'm leaning forward too far in a computer chair i'll feel some pain. Well that one step has been enough to drive me insane thinking the worst. Well I went to the doctor today and he spent a few minutes feeling around told me to buy a jock strap and gave me some ibuprofen and told me to take it until it ran out. He told me I had something called an inguinal strain. Is this an actual diagnosis? or is this him reacting to me telling him that i was walking on uneven ground slipped on mud and gained my balance. That particular event wasn't painful but, i thought it might have been somewhat relevant. I thought going to the doctor would give me some peace of mind. Am i being crazy?

Yes it is an actual diagnosis. It's extremely common and is the leading cause of testicular pain. Is there a reason you're not confident in this diagnosis?

Response by poster: Just that it wasn't very painful at the time. I thought groin pulls were supposed to be painful. I went to the doctor because it was just a nagging pain that shows it's head once in a blue moon but, enough to make me worried. Plus this is the first time i ever went to this doctor. It's just my father has cancer right now and it's made me a little more paranoid about my health. I'm just trying to reassure myself i guess.

Then it was good to get checked out. Go ahead an feel reassured, its a good thing!
If there are no lumps or swelling and the doctor is not finding any other problems, then give the ibuprofen and support a try and see if it gets better. If it is still bothering you after that, than go back again.

Best of luck to your father.

You describe a thorough examination that would have revealed a lump or swelling to any doctor... having been through similar worries and experiences myself, it sounds like you can accept this diagnosis, give the jockstrap and pills a good try, and see if things improve after taking a couple of weeks off from worrying.

Are you concerned about a specific serious condition? If you're still worried, it's perfectly reasonable to go back to the doctor and ask them why they don't think it's {insert serious condition you are concerned about}, or to seek a second opinion with a different doctor. A good doctor should be willing to explain their diagnosis and why they think more serious causes of testicular pain have been excluded.
