Is the IMMI GO kids carseat any good?

The IMMI GO looks interesting, since it also looks semi-portable for travelling, but doesn't yet have IIHS ratings. The seat is only available through the website, so it has no user reviews on Amazon. Does anyone have personal experience with this seat?

The Car Seat Lady carseat blog raves about it, and says that she has no financial ties to IMMI, but she does have financial ties to Uber which is using the IMMI GO seat, which gives me a bit of conflict-of-interest heebie jeebies (The UBERfamily FAQ states she met and trained Uber drivers in proper installation, I assume for compensation).

Relevant text:

Every driver met one-on-one with The Car Seat Lady and demonstrated that they could install the IMMI Go seat properly in their own vehicle AND could secure a child safely into the seat (in case a parent were to need help securing his or her child). Every driver also demonstrated that they could inflate and deflate the BubbleBum and secure a child properly in the booster

We're looking at switching out carseats since my current car (2009 Outback) has not much legroom and many of the carseats are gigantic and place the child far forward, so only the middle will work. We're now trying to fit two carseats in and the middle won't work anymore. Thus the interest in the IMMI GO which looks to be quite small. My child is about 3ft 2 inches tall and 36 lbs.

According to the Car Seat Blog, the IMMI GO went through an incarnation as the Safety 1st GO Hybrid, which was categorized by IIHS in 2012 as ” Check fit (These boosters may provide adequate belt fit for some kids in some vehicles).” I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been changed and/or improved since then, but personally, I’d probably skip it for something with current ratings. Although I’m sure it’s better than no seat in a cab situation.

Dionos have reputation as being pretty low profile. Have you looked at those?

I also recommend the carseat.org forum for car seat questions.

Sorry, the Diono I linked to is booster only, which is probably not what you want. The Diono Radian is a convertible seat in the same price range as the IMMI GO.

Not sure from your question if you are still planning to use the middle seating position for this seat, but the Car Seat Lady notes it installs with LATCH only. Many (most) cars do not have LATCH available in the center seat.

Response by poster: We are not going to be doing middle placement with the new seat.

Best answer: Agreed with snickerdoodle -- it's fine for short term and travel but is not really comfortable enough for an everyday seat.

Everyone in my twins group loves the Clek Fllo and Foonf seats for fitting 2 in the backseat.
Check out this 3 across carseats guide as well.
Seats that can fit 3 across are narrow and also by default have to fit well behind the front seats.
