Help me simplify my sock scenario

I'd like to replace the rampant chaos that is my sock drawer with a dozen matching pairs of plain black merino wool socks. I like the weight, fit, and price of the Kirkland (Costco) women's trail socks, but they come in packs of four with different designs. Can you suggest an alternative?
I'm looking for a medium-weight merino sock that comes in a women's 9/men's 8 in plain solid black—no stripes, no heather, no weird contrasty patches—ideally for about $5 a pair. Thanks!

I haven't found anything comparable in quality and price to the Kirkland socks. And I've looked for years. But what I have done in the past is buy multiple packages of their socks, break them up, and then have lovely small gifts/stocking stuffers for friends or family members, who also appreciate the cozy, warm, durable socks.

Best answer: I have a few pairs of black merino socks from REI that are four years old and still look like new.

Best answer: I also have a bunch of REI-brand socks that have held up to everything for several years now. The only sock that's been damaged is one my dog decided to play with and now it has four holes in it. I have a couple pairs (also identical) of Wigwam boot socks for working and hiking. I have soccer socks.
My husband's daily-wear is a Wigwam grey sock - most of them have about 5 years on them with no signs of wear. We got multipacks off of Amazon of them.
I love having a drawer full of identical socks.
