Using a Windows 10 tablet as a retro gaming device

I have a Stream 7 tablet that I'm not getting a tonne of use out of. I'm thinking about using it as a replacement for my aged and battery hungry GP2X. What Windows 10-compatible emulators work well with touch? Any other advice? (More details inside).

I'd like to use it on the go, so I'm trying to stay away from controllers, etc. I bought GestureWorks Gameplay last night, but haven't installed it on my tablet yet. My own searches seem to be turning up mostly very expensive options, software that requires a subscription, or just plain shady looking software. Must plays are older arcade games like Gyrus and Elevator Action (in MAME), NES and C64 games (I own C64 Forever). Pluses are SNES, Amiga, and Atari ST stuff.

I'd try Retroarch. I use it on my iPhone and Android tablet, but I also use a controller... I hate using touchscreen controls. It emulates all kinds of consoles and also MAME.

Oh, but since you want touch controls, Retroarch lets you overlay any game controller you like.

Response by poster: Thanks! Looking into this. It's been a bit complicated to set up. Not sure how to get cores in, and it doesn't seem to be responding to touch events right now.

For Gameboy emulation I use VBA+ from the Windows store on my Dell Venue. (I think there's a Windows 10 version). It has built-in touch controls.
