Mac Barteder Equivalent

I am looking for a Mac equivalent to bartender by seagull software. Specifically I need a program that can print barcodes and read the data from an external data file.

In times like these Version Tracker is your friend.

FYI Delicious Library is a fantastic point-of-sale program which will allow you to keep track of your UPCs using an iSight camera.

In Joel on Software's article How To Ship Anything, he mentions the Code 39 barcode system, in which the error correction is built into each letter. This is important, because then you can simply get a Code 39 font and not have to worry about printing barcode or interfacing with anyone's weird barcode-producing software.

As far as reading the data, I'd need to know more about what format the data is stored in. Barcodes? If so, why? Why not just use the actual data values of the code.
