Help me find my Roku remote before I go crazy! I have ransacked my house. Is there any way to make it beep or something using an app or opening up the base and twisting a wire or something?

The remote to my Roku is missing, which is frankly impossible. It never leaves my living room. I live in a tiny apartment, and I live alone with no pets. The only places the remote ever is are on my futon and next to the TV. It's in neither of those two places. I've ripped apart my entire apartment looking for it with no luck. It would never leave the apartment. I didnt take out the garbage in the past two days, although I looked through all my garbage pails just in case.

I know I used it two nights ago and i THINK i used it last night but I'm not positive. I vaguely remember grabbing both remotes and throwing them next to the TV this morning before I left the house. When I returned this afternoon, the TV remote was there but the Roku one was not.

I have checked everywhere, even ridiculous places like in the refrigerator, in my laundry, etc. My couch is a single piece futon so there are no cushions for it to be stuck between. I am truly losing my mind here.

So my question is, is there some way to send out a homing signal or something to find the damn thing? An app I could download on my phone, or something I could do to the base to make it signal the remote?

If not, can anyone think of a place I might not have checked? I did that 12 steps thing that someone mentioned in a similar question. I am not interested in getting another remote or using my phone as a remote. I just want that one! Help!

Response by poster: Oh it's a Roku 3, if that helps.

Best answer: I bet that when you threw both remotes, the Roku one bounced in a funny way and landed/skidded farther away than you think would be normal, and it's now under or behind something, in a place you wouldn't think to look because you don't ever consciously put stuff there.

Roku4 has the remote locater so that won't help you here.

In the meantime use the mobile app.

In your purse or whatever you take with you when you leave the house?

I would also retrace my steps to reconstruct exactly what you did this morning. It's possible something may jog your memory, i.e. maybe you intended to put the remote next to the TV, but were interrupted mid-action by the microwave beeping, or something similar. If you go through your routine and remember anything that deviated from it, it's likely that's where the remote got lost.

I actually used this method earlier today to find a small ring of keys that I accidentally dropped in the middle of a pitch-black parking lot last night, while fumbling for my car keys. I went back to the lot this morning, walked the exact route that I took to get to my car from the bus stop, and lo and behold they were still there, lying in a puddle.

Amazon sells a replacement remote for less than ten bucks.

Also, everywhere that you wrote off, saying "I know it’s not there, why would it be there?". Look there.

I'm voting for under the fridge.

Response by poster: OMG you guys, Cool Papa Bell was right! When I tossed the two remotes this morning, the Roku one mustve bounced UP and through this tiny hole in the back of my entertainment center. It's like a billion to one shot. And then, even though I already looked behind the entertainment center ten times tonight, it managed to get UNDERNEATH. So when I moved the whole two hundred pound piece of furniture just now, I saw the remote peeking out. Seriously, it's impossible that it got under there. But it did!

Thanks everyone, especially CPB!

I vote for buying a new remote. I know when I lose something, as soon as I acquire a replacement, the original turns up. Worked recently with my house keys.

Brilliant, CPB.

If something like this ever happens again and the missing thing is nowhere to be found, look in the fridge and the freezer.

( More than once, I someone I know has found their cell phone, keys and wallet sitting next to the almond milk.
