Amazon Prime question

I feel silly, but I can't seem to find an answer to this. I'm currently in a free trial for Prime for another week or so. We were probably going to cancel it, but there is a weekend offer that knocks a few bucks off the price and I'm reconsidering. However, as I'm already in the free trial, is there any way to get the lower price?

I think you can just sign up with a different email address. Clear your browser cache or use a different browser to get rid of the existing account.

Best answer: Amazon customer service is really fantastic 99% of the time, so I bet they will extend this to you! That seems like your best bet. They have a byzantine menu structure so I'm not sure how to even direct you to find their chat help, but I usually go this route (click "contact us" at the bottom of the page and there's an option to click "Amazon Prime or Something Else" when prompted about what you would like to contact them about). They've never denied me a request like this—they err on the side of customer, I've found, so even when I'm too far out according to their policy on taking advantage of a price drop after I've purchased something, they've given it to me.

I'm pretty sure you could also cancel your free trial and then sign back up for the deal, but since that's for new members only, you'd be safest contacting them. They really want you to sign up for Prime, so play hard to get and I think they'll help you out very quickly :)

I just tried to sign up for a new account with a random (to me) gmail address. It told me I couldn't access the deal because the address was already registered. I think this confirms what I already believed -- that what designates you as a "new" customer is a unique-to-amazon email address.

Response by poster: Thanks so much, the thorn bushes have roses. It took a while to find the chat option, but they agreed to give us the discounted price with no arm-twisting whatsoever.

In the future OP, Amazon really does have outstanding customer service. Never ever hesitate to contact them if you have an issue and suggest a solution that would satisfy you, that has worked for me 100% of the time.
