Small laser printer good for envelopes and duplex printing?

What should replace my old Brother HL2270DW printer? Is there something with a similarly small footprint, but that is better at handling envelopes, and faster at duplex printing?

The printer tells me its drum is dying. My dream printer would be like this:

- Small footprint (the HL2270DW is 14.5" wide, which is very good for my smallish office.

- Generally runs well and is reliable (like the HL2270DW)

- Better at printing envelopes. I sometimes have to print maybe 50 or so envelopes at a time, and it's a drag on the HL2270DW. You have to feed them one at a time, and it's slow, and they jam.

- Faster at automatic duplex printing. I sometimes have to print maybe a hundred duplex pages on the HL2270DW, and it is slow (I think around 10 ppm or less). Would be nice to have printer that is faster than that at automatic duplex printing.

Ideally, it would also not be too expensive (under $400?) but I can bend on that to get the printer I want. I'm pretty sure what I want is a laser printer, but I'm willing to be persuaded that I should get something else... I've always had B&W printers, but would be happy to spring for color...

Does the printer I want exist?

Might be some good tips on this Wirecutter testing/review article of several models in that category.
