Where can I find this WordPress theme?

I'm looking for a particular layout for a blog, preferably a WordPress theme. It's such a simple layout that I know something like it must exist out there but I can't find the right one!

I'm moving abroad soon and wanted to make a blog (photo heavy) that my friends and family can follow. I've written a few blogs before and would really prefer a wordpress site and a free theme if possible.

I really like the look of these sites:

Most important bits:

(1) I don't want a clunky header image. I want the website to just pull up the latest post (title first then pictures), be as minimalist as possible, and have a sidebar.

(2) Also, I really like how both sites can place vertical images side by side. I'd love to find a theme that lets me do that without me having to go into Photoshop and make a diptych of that.

I've looked through Wordpress themes and like before, I'm coming up short. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you seen the new Twenty Sixteen theme from WordPress? It looks pretty simple/minimal.

As far as putting 2 images side-by-side, you should be able to do that with pretty much any theme. Just insert them next to each other without hitting the enter key. As long as their combined width is less than your column width, you should be fine.

FYI, those sites are both built using SquareSpace.

There are LOTS of google results under "wordpress side by side images" so don't let that one factor deter you from a theme you like.

I use the Illustratr theme which can be as minimal or fancy as you like. I really like it because it's built to play well with Jetpack. (You can see my site at the link in profile.)
