Best place to get current info on SAG-AFTRA video game strike?

I would like to find up-to-date information on the SAG-AFTRA interactive media strike. And not just rely on articles appearing after SAG-AFTRA press releases go out. Wait, wait... don't answer this too quickly, please read the full explanation.

I am not a SAG-AFTRA member. I have a voice over studio that is not ready to do union productions. (We're small and just starting out. Want to add a union tier to our services later.) I'm generally supportive of SAG-AFTRA, and am interested in defining my company's stance on what kinds of non-conflicting work it will take during a strike.

If I google for info on the strike, the latest news I get is that the members have voted to authorize it. It's quite unclear to me what the current status is. E.g. are they negotiating to avoid a strike? Has a strike already happened? The articles posted around the web have limited information that seems confined to SAG-AFTRA press releases from October/November.

If I go to the sagaftra.org site, they have outdated information describing things that happened several months back. The press articles are actually better than their own website. There might be better info on member mailing lists, or something that is hidden away from non-members like me.

I realize I can contact SAG-AFTRA, but as a non-member, contacting them about things in the past has been slow and frustrating, with their contact page of telephone numbers, and playing phone tag with various reps. And of course, as a non-member, they have less incentive to spend time with me. Plus, I don't want a single update. I want to be kept abreast over time as various things happen.

What would you recommend to me for keeping up-to-date on this issue?

Variety covers SAG-AFTRA news although I don't know how closely they would cover a videogame strike. They have at least one article on it.

Best answer: I'd search The Wrap and Deadline to see if they've covered it. Then set up a Google alert to let you know when they do.

This will certainly get coverage in the gaming press, but that's a tricky place to look because it's generally such a mess (and the comment sections are toxic waste).

Wil Wheaton put up a long post outlining his thoughts on the strike authorization vote back in September. I haven't seen an update since but I would guess if there are major new developments he might post something further. His post doesn't so much explain what's happening right now but does give a lot of useful background on the whole thing. It also has a reasonably well moderated comments section, including a mini-debate about the issue of residuals for game voice actors.
