Wordpress Notification Bar for Twitter or similar?

I am looking for a Wordpress plugin (or service?) which will allow me to send a tweet and display it at the top of the page, with some caveats.

The company for which I work would like to be able to alert customers to outages via the website. Ideally this needs to be something that someone who knows how to tweet -- but isn't comfortable in Wordpress -- can do. Once the outage has passed, it would be nice if deleting the tweet removed the notification bar.

I am leaning in this direction because the CEO often updates the Facebook page or tweets messages, and he feels this is something he would be able to do -- and is willing to do at all hours. We don't currently use our main Twitter account for much, but still think we would use a separate Twitter account dedicated to this purpose.

NotifySnack looks promising, and I may still employ it, but I am curious if others have solutions. I have looked at many Wordpress notification bar plugins, but am not finding others that can be used in conjunction with Twitter.

I am open to all solutions which are easy to implement and use.

Response by poster: Another candidate is WP Notification Bar. One-time fee rather than a monthly is MUCH more appealing.

If you create a locked down account for this person to use and write out some clear steps, Wordpress is no different than Twitter or Facebook, really.

Also, you can easily set up a test site for them to practice on.

I know that's not the angle you're going for.

I'm not aware of a Twitter connected plugin that will do what you want the way you want it.

Looks like there are a couple of tweet-to-post plugins that you might be able to make work, but how about setting up an email-to-post gateway? You could let your CEO send email to website-notices@domain.com that could generate a post in a particular category or custom post type that would display a global notification (via a simple custom query in your theme). You'd want to add a couple security checks and maybe some logic to let him change display options (send a message with "OFF" as the body to disable the notice, for instance) and it'd be pretty easy for someone who "isn't comfortable in WordPress" to make these special posts. Just an idea.

Wouldn't take much to put together as a nifty little plugin...
