I heard a speaker say that if members of a religious congregation have at least two friends in the group--close enough that they feel comfortable socializing within each other's homes--the odds of them leaving the congregation are really small. I can't locate this research and am not sure about which key terms to use.

The original speaker was probably Mormon, but I think the study may have been conducted independently. Thanks for any help.
