Help me find this Collectors Editon Wristwatch for Anime / Manga?

My googlings have been unsucessful because the keywords I can come up with are all very generic terms, since I recall very little about the film or watch.

Several years ago, probably in the late 90's early 2000's, I remember some North American release of an anime film or anime based on a Japanese film that was big deal because it was Japanese animation making headway into mainstream North America, shown in major theatres.

One of the pieces of tech from the film was a big utility bracelet thing that the characters had -- kind of like a big watch with a large screen and numbers.

Anyhoo, I think Seiko or some other company decided to produce a real life version of it -- at least in appearance -- and sell it as a collectable.

The thing is, I can't remember the film, who actually made the watch, or much else about the film. Just that the watch was big, square, and... big.

Any clues or ideas?

A film that I think fits in hype and period is Ghost in the Shell (from 1995), but I'm not aware of replica watches.

Response by poster: @sukeban Yes, Ghost in the Shell was my first thought, but that's not it. I think it was earlier than that.

I thought maybe Patlabor, but I couldn't find any associated wristwatch that had the look.

I think Seiko made collectible watches for both Big O and Cowboy Bebop, which are both big-names from the time period. They're not huge or square though...

Best answer: Was it this thing? It's a Seiko watch made to accompany the release of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in 2001.
