How can I patch these holes I made in my metal exterior door?

In order to hang curtains on this door a while ago I drilled some holes into the inside surface of a metal exterior door. The holes are about 3/16 inch diameter, and the door, which is a foam filled hollow core, does not have any foam filling in this area.

I would like to patch over these holes so that they will "disappear" now that Ms. Rad_Boy has changed her decorating in the room and no longer wants curtains. See a picture of the holes here. What's a good way to patch these holes? I can't see using putty because it will fall into the empty space behind the holes.

Thanks!

Best answer: Fill the space behind the holes with spray foam. When this has hardened, patch the holes with Bondo. Sand, prime, and paint.

Can you spray in some expanding foam first?

As H21 mentioned, Bondo would be the way to go, though you might be able to get by with spot putty (both are sold at auto stores).

Water putty would also work just fine.
