Enhanced Ebook, Video: seeking excellent examples

University Press filter: publication underway of anthology containing essays about several dozen moving image selections (rights obtained). Hard media no problem, press does that. Website no problem, intend to build it with consistent relationships to essays and AV media online. Help! Tell me about great enhanced eBooks with video!

Looking for your experience with excellent enhanced ebooks. An example is On The Road With Janis Joplin (Enhanced Edition), a Penguin publication incorporating AV by John Byrne Cooke.

Beginning to learn about EPUB3 but that's not really my brief or question; the publisher will contract with a vendor. Looking to this community for examples that work--because there will be constraints and tradeoffs for embedded moving images in enhanced ebook edition.

Setting out to do more video rather than less, and to provide optimal viewing for the (few) readers we entice into this territory. Will have to weigh very short clips, or very compressed clips, or way more links out to the book's website, with fewer full length examples in the ebook (the two-dozen-plus selections range in length from 15 seconds to 30 minutes, and I know we'll have to be selective). [Some discussion of linking out option here.]

Point me to examples. And how to survive the process, if you've been there.

The Clockwork Orange ebook for the iPad is magnificently done. Not only does it have the full text of Anthony Burgess' well known work, but it also has score sheets ( of pieces composed by Burgess ) and features video as well. Look it up, it was done exceedingly well.

Another example that I enjoyed was Peter May's Lewis Trilogy App which is available on the Amazon UK site. The books are three mystery novels set in the Outer Hebrides. The app contains video and stills of areas in the Outer Hebrides that are referenced in the (excellent) mystery novels. This was well done - read the book, and follow along as the protagonist moves from island to island on the maps on the app.

Another example of enhanced ebooks is the work of the late Wayne Dyer. The Shift and The Power of Intention are two books that use written text, videos and spoken word.

If you want to see more examples of good enhanced ebook examples, click on this list, but be mindful of the difficulties with the platforms
