Lodging in Salida, Colorado with hot springs

We are looking to stay in (or near) Salida, Colorado over Thanksgiving.

Mrs. FD wants a place with hot springs. I see only one place (near Buena Vista, which is fine) that has hot springs on site. It seems like mostly you would go to another destination for the hot springs. Is this correct? What is your experience?

Princeton is near Salida and utterly worth it.

Seconding Mount Princeton. The only problem is that the rooms are pricey and tend to fill quickly, so I don't know if there will still be anything available on site. But both BV and Salida are wonderful little towns that are within easy driving distance of Mt Princeton and Cottonwood. I would be much happier driving to one of the hot springs and then staying somewhere in Salida where you can get a better room for your money.

OMG- Thanks for giving me a reason to rave about Antero Hot Springs. Back when I was married & had money I got to stay there for a couple of days. Small, private, quiet, clothing optional. STRONGLY recommend. Lovely x 3. Reservations are needed way in advance, though

I've spent several Thanksgivings in Salida and I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. We usually stay near the old downtown area in an AirBnB or VRBO.com place, and I think it's such a wonderful little town that it's worth a drive to a hot springs. On the Friday after Thanksgiving the town has a lovely parade of lights in the evening and then they light up the giant Christmas tree that consists of string lights going the whole way up Tenderfoot mountain just outside town. Princeton hot springs are nice and not too far away, but the best hot springs ever is Valley View. You will most likely need to make advance reservations- even if you're just planning a day trip there. This hot springs is pretty rustic and offers no spa services, but the springs and the views are unbeatable. It is clothing optional and they do have cabins for overnights but at this point I'd imagine they're completely booked for Thanksgiving. They also close down for a month beginning on December 1st.
