Sudden Flurry of Spam

In the past hour, I have just gotten seven bizarre emails delivered directly to my inbox...

...that are from a random email address, with the subject line of another email address, containing another random email address. What's the angle here, and should I be worried as well as annoyed?

Best answer: My guess would be that it's a bug in a spammer's script.

Best answer: a few details on your setup might help. is this gmail or yahoo mail or outlook.com or something else? are you reading your mail in a browser or in, say, outlook or "Mail" on the mac?

on preview... yes, seems like a spammer's bug. but it's hard to tell without a bit more info from you.

Response by poster: Gmail. Primary account (not used to sign up for things), used on a Windows machine and an Android phone. I use Gmail in Firefox on my home machine and via the Gmail app on my phone.

Spammer bug at least sounds promising...

mark all of them as spam, and they should stop soon.
