Popular Horse Dances

I am familiar with Chubby Checker doing "The Pony", and of course with Psy doing "Gangnam Style", but are there other equine popular dances out there? Dances in which a performer mimics a horse, a rider, or both?

Best answer: I'm not sure if "Whip/Nae-Nae" is literally about horses in any way, but it should qualify if Gangnam Style does, no?

Best answer: Is it exercise? Is it dance? For your consideration: Prancercise.

Best answer: It's not pop culture so maybe this won't count for you, but maybe Kuda Kepang? It's a traditional dance of the horse spirits in Malaysia. I've seen it in Singapore as community dance. Wonderful.

Best answer: The last little bit of Winona Rider's dance at the end of Beetlejuice has a little horsiness to it. It shows up at 2:06. That's the first thing that popped into my head when I read your question. I did think that there was more to it than that though. Anyway, for what it's worth, there you go.

Best answer: I think there's some horse dancing in Oklahoma, but probably not what you're looking for.

Best answer: Cliff Noble's THE HORSE, an instrumental track from 1968. From Soul Train's website: "The groove actually sounds like a horse galloping, so much so that a dance craze simply called The Horse came about as a result of the popularity of this song in which dancers would mimic the movements of a galloping horse."

Best answer: This may not be quite what you're looking for, either, but Bournonville's Jockey Dance comes to mind.

Best answer: It's not poppy & party dancing, but just to add to your collection, here's classical ballet's pas de cheval.
