Los Angeles Company Holiday Party - You are seriously, my only hope.

We are completely lost for ideas. The last 4 years our non-profit group has held our holiday party at a Thai restaurant, at which, 2 employees couldn't eat because, peanuts. Our budget is around $42 per person (give or take). We are 30 employees. We need a private room. We are located in West L.A. Staff is willing to travel as far south as Culver City-ish.

Obviously not Thai, but Mexican, South American, Italian, Spanish, American, Mediterranean, etc. are all fine.

If you could just list some options, I would be most appreciative as all I can seem to find on the internets is $65 and up and we're somewhat tight on funds.

To answer some questions before they're asked:
We can't have lunch, as we're not allowed to close our clinic during the day.
Also, we don't have a conference room in which to cater a dinner.

What about an Air BnB? Get a cool space, and cater.

Check Persian restaurants - a bunch of them on the Westside either have private rooms or are small enough to rent the place out for a night for 30-50.

...and all their websites are not helpful. I have heard that Darya has a private room, but whether that actually means the LA location (rumor) or the Orange location (which definitely does per the website), I'm not sure. Probably best to go there and ask.

One of the places I had in mind was Flame International on Santa Monica just west of Sawtelle. My boss and I have been there several times for lunch. You're also probably best off just going in mid-afternoon to talk to them, it seems like the owner/manager is generally there.

I've been to private events at James Beach in Venice -- might be too west for you, but the space is nice and their website seems to indicate it's like $45 and up?

Wokcano in Santa Monica
Victorian (upstairs) in Santa Monica
Misfit (upstairs) in Santa Monica
Buca Di Beppo in Santa Monica

I would think that your budget would accommodate those pretty well. The next notch up would be the Fig or Bungalow (which would be perfect for your headcount) at Fairmont or maybe the Penthouse at the Huntley.

Best answer: I don't see prices listed, but I would contact Border Grill in DTSM for more info. I think they would be willing to work with you on specific food issues, too, since they are sustainable and organic (when possible) and probably know everything that goes into the dishes.

Whoomp, there it is: Border Grill Dinner Party Menu. It looks like they have two plans that fit your budget, one for $38 and one for $45, and one for $53 if you're going to splurge. I don't know if they have a special rate for non-profits, but I know Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Millikan do a lot of charity work so it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Matteo's on Westwood Blvd has a nice upstairs room for that size group. I'm not familiar with their current pricing but they've been pretty flexible with our group.
