Good nonprofit that works on environmental lead in Chicago?

I would like to donate some money to a non-profit that works on issues related to environmental lead in Chicago, especially as it affects children. Advocacy, lobbying, policy work, education, direct lead remediation work, or any other kind of work on this issue would fit the bill. Who should I donate to?

I live and work on the South Side of Chicago, an area with very high concentrations on environmental lead both inside people's homes due to old paint, and outside in the soil due to paint, decades of leaded gasoline use, and industrial pollution.

I think this has a huge impact on children and I'd like to do something to help. I can't offer to give my time, although I would if I had more of it available, but I can give a little bit of money if I find a non-profit doing good work.

Lead is an ENORMOUS problem and it is AWESOME you want to help. Thank you. Too many people brush it off but it can be devastating. Lead Safe America is not Chicago-based, but they are a great group and help parents nationwide. If you really want to focus on Chicago, I bet the folks who run that organization could point you to a Chicago-specific resource. (I am the parent of a child with elevated lead levels and have gotten a ton of great info from LSA.)
