Where to stay during a job in Valencia, Spain?

Can you help my fiancee figure out where (geographically) to look for lodging for a seven-week gig in Valencia?

Since she'll be there for about seven weeks a reasonably priced flat is more appropriate than a hotel suite. Easy access on foot and/or public transit to the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia would be ideal and relative safety when coming&going is desirable.

Thanks!

I stayed in Valencia for a week last summer. I'm not hugely familiar with the city (hopefully a resident might pipe up) but we had a very good experience staying in the old town area (historic centre). It's touristy in places, but also full of lovely shops, restaurants, architecture. We stayed about three minutes walk from the river park, which runs all the way down to Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. With a rented bike we could cycle down to the City of Arts and Sciences in 10 minutes, through a beautiful treed park. Plenty of buses too, it's not an enormous city. And a walkable commute, if you don't walking two kilometres.

We found our place on Airbnb.

I didn't explore the neighbourhoods right around the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. There may be much closer options either side of the park, but the city peters out to the south and everything felt a bit rougher and more industrial in that direction.

Food is cheap and wonderful in Valencia!

Response by poster: Thanks very much for the info, distorted.

Ultimately an IRL contact set her up with a place he had stayed.
