Newest social networking analysis programs?

I need to make a data visualization of interdisciplinary research (who is talking with who and how much). I have read this which is an awesome start, but wondering how much has changed since 2011. I will be teaching myself, so hoping to find one that is somewhat user friendly. I am in academia, so have access to programs, and an evaluator friend has suggested the free program PARTNER Tool Just curious to see if there are other options I should consider. Thanks in advance!

Look into SAS applications for this. Since you're in Academia you no doubt have access to SAS programs such as enterprise miner, text miner, social network analysis, content categorization server, etc.

There is also Gephi. Not particularly new, but open source.
