I need me some (nugget) ice, ice baby!

Please help me find a not-too-expensive nugget/pellet ice maker (think: Sonic chewable ice) for use in my home.

So I'm addicted to that lovely, chewable "nugget" or "pellet" type of ice (Sonic, Cafe Rio and am/pm are stores I can think of that have it) and I've decided I must have this kind of ice maker in my home. The ice maker should:

-hopefully be no more than $200ish
-be compact (ie, not a commercial unit) (I'd love if it could fit under my sink)
-be relatively quiet
-be soft, chewable ice

I don't need high output - maybe enough to fill 1 large ziploc bag a day. I've looked at some on Amazon (the portable types, like Avalon Bay) but I'm not exactly sure this is the right kind of ice? I'd love to hear from you if you or someone you know has a machine like this. Thanks!

I would not keep this under the sink because these ice makers can grow mold. *shudders*

I love my portable ice maker but it is a lot of upkeep. You have to put it away properly, I sometimes throw out the first few rounds of ice, my entire first batch of ice is made from vinegar and thrown away if the machine was musty before use, etc, etc, etc.

You will have an easier time finding a store that sells this type of ice bagged, I think.

Sonic sells bags of ice.

There is also the GE Opal.

Response by poster: Sounds like a lot of trouble - I'll stick with my weekly Sonic pilgrimage. Thanks.
