Trying to find a specific German-language short story

Asking for a friend, who read the short story in question in the 80s in Germany (thus in a print format).

I’m looking for a German language short story/fiction describing the eruption of Krakatoa (or Tambora?). It’s a dialogue between two speakers describing the event itself and its aftermath. Not sure when it was written, or for what publication, reads like a feature article in a magazine tho somehow I think the piece is not contemporary.

I'm counting on you, mefites!

Best answer: Just googling a bit, I see Arno Schmidt published a story called "Krakatau" in 1975 but on his Wikipedia page it's grouped among dialogues.
