Eating out in Marseille

Your recommendations, please, for eating out in Marseille. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Panisses at l'Estaque to moderately fine dining. Any kind of cuisine—doesn't have to be bouillabaisse. A bit of an explanation for what's good about the place you're recommending would be great.

I have seen this question, which is rather narrower.

Thanks!

My husband and I had lunch at Fon Fon while spending the day in Marseille (on our honeymoon) and we are so glad we did. In addition to the food, the surroundings and view really made it stand out for us -- the outdoor staircase leading to the restaurant, the colorful docked boats. It was a very special experience.

Response by poster: Thanks for these suggestions, though I'm afraid I didn't end up taking any of the recommendations.

The place we liked most was La Cantine, which is here, near the Vieux Port (on the southern side). For wine or a mojito, La Caravelle, actually facing the port on the northern side, was also good—it's on the first floor of a hotel, with good views (though startlingly low light levels inside in the evening). They do slates of cheese or charcuterie in the evening, but more elaborate meals at lunchtime only.
