Slow internet (ADSL) since new router - is it my line attenuation?

Nothing's changed with my connection apart from I swapped out the router. So in theory microfilters etc shouldn't come into it as I simply swapped the ADSL cable that went into the back of the old router and put it into the new one.

My router stats are here. They're an image because I couldn't use pastebin for tabular data and for it to remain easily readable!

I am concerned my line attenuation seems to be sky high.

Thanks!

Those attenuations are in 0.1dB units, not dB, and therefore look quite reasonable.

For comparison purposes: I'm under 1kM from my local exchange by cable length, and these are my DSL stats.

If your raw attenuation numbers divided by 10 don't match your expectations according to this table - if, for example, you know there's much less wire between you and your exchange than your numbers seem to imply - then you might want to check your home's phone wiring. Crazy branching and/or unfiltered phones elsewhere in the house can easily cost you 20dB.

If the reason you swapped your router is that the old one suffered electrical damage e.g. from lightning, there's a good chance that the ADSL filter between it and the wall point (or some other filter elsewhere in the house) was also damaged and is now attenuating your signal. You can easily rule that out by temporarily unplugging everything from every phone point in the house, then wiring your modem direct to its local point with no filter, then seeing whether your attenuation numbers improve. A properly working filter will typically cost you well under 1dB.

Response by poster: Thanks all. Looks like it was a bandwidth control setting which was being applied due to a bug in the router firmware.
