Alternative base for Saarinen tulip side table?

I've found an authentic Saarinen side table top (16") for sale, and I'd really like to buy it! The only problem is, I'm not sure what to use as a base for it.

The company that makes them (Knoll) does not ship to Canada. Is there an alternative base that would work? Is there a way to Frankenstein my own version of a base, perhaps from a speaker stand? There are no screw holes on the bottom of the table top, just one round hole in the centre. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if Ebay sellers ship to Canada, but it looks like you might find it there. Btw, CB2 also makes a similar table...maybe the legs could be swapped out? If you want to use a non-original base and don't mind changing the tabletop, you can drill holes in the bottom.

Your best bet is to watch for a table with a ruined top.

But you could definitely get a new Knoll table shipped to you in Canada. If not directly, through any number of dealers, including Design Within Reach. You can find local dealers here.

Also, your second link isn't a Knoll/Saarinen table. It's a vintage knock-off from Burke.
