How does one use the grill portion of an AKAI AK MW 2300LS? It's the microwave-oven combo that came with my new rental. The only ones I can find online are not for free and it seems insane to have to pay to use a microwave.

I can't speak directly about this model, but our last place had something similar: a microwave with a quartz heating element in the ceiling of the oven box. The "grill" couldn't be used independently of the microwave, only in tandem with it, and was activated by a specific button that said "microwave/grill" (which is something I see on other Akai models from a quick search). We didn't find it useful too much for a house full of vegetarians--mostly for reheating pizza and getting the top to crust instead of bubble. The microwave wattage, even at a low setting, was much more powerful than the "grill," so I imagine it's mostly useful if you want to cook something with a lot of mass like a roast or something.

Wouldn't your landlord know and be able to tell you?

He's out of the country and offline.

Also suspect it's a microwave/grill combo. Seeing as the model doesn't exist on the Akai website nor - seemingly - anywhere else online, it would help a lot to see a photo of the controls.

I have a combination but its Panasonic. However, YouTube seems full of demos for a variety of ovens
