What just went screaming over my house?

I'm used to odd noises from aeroplanes flying over my house, but in the past 15 minutes, two planes have flown over much lower, much faster and a shedload noisier than usual. How can I find out what's going on? More information: I live near Boston, in Medford. I am outside of the Class B controlled airspace for BOS. I've looked at FlightRadar24, but whatever it was didn't seem to be on there. I am not that far from Hanscom AFB, but am outside of their controlled airspace.

I heard on the radio that the Blue Angels are doing a photo shoot around the Boston area today. Could that be it?

Were there any airshows within a hundred or so miles of you yesterday for a Memorial Day thing? Could be folks going home/wrapping up from that.

Every first week of August here I shit my pants wondering what the hell is happening with the planes because I routinely forget that the pilots show up early to prep for the Air and Water Show.

Response by poster: Ah, yes the Blue Angels are buzzing the area. That would explain it: I guess they don't show up on Flightradar24 and the like. They woke my cats up, which takes some doing. Showoffs.

Just got buzzed abt 15 minutes north of Boston ... I was getting out the civil defense gear, then I bounced over to the green and found this post. (Only barely joking abt the gear.)

I head to Twitter to figure out "what the heck just happened?" events like this; if it's loud and in public, lots of people are probably tweeting about it. My favorite account for Boston goings-on is Mefi's Own™ @universalhub.

There were six planes in a delta formation and one plane trailing them to take photos. They did a couple flyovers of Fenway and the Harbor and when they circled around to the North they would have flown right over you.

They were purdy.

Adam (Universal Hub guy) should probably just make a whole new Twitter account for people to ask "what was that plane/helicopter that just flew over my house?" at.
