What typeface is used for the English subtitles in this movie?

I'm on a Kurosawa kick.
I'm watching Kagemusha on netflix.
I'm a typographer and that's a great typeface.

Maybe not a 100% match, but you'll probably like Rockwell, which comes pre-installed with Microsoft Word.

Stymie feels close, but I I'm not 100% on it either.

Looks like Memphis. The distinctive y, k, and h all match closely. The g is not quite right, though, at least on that linotype cut.

Response by poster: I was never able to find a typeface that satisfactorily fit the one pictured.
Perhaps we will never find one.
