When to buy tickets for a Christmas trip to Puerto Rico?

Planning to spend a week around Christmas in Puerto Rico with my wife and two kids. Have been watching airfare from DC - has been pretty consistent at about $350 RT. Exact days are flexible, so flying in and out on Wednesday to take advantage of cheaper mid-week fares is fine. Do I pull the trigger and buy now, or do I have a reasonable chance to save significant dollars by waiting?

Best answer: I would buy now. $350 RT at Christmas time to just about anywhere sounds like a pretty good deal. Per a historic search of airfares of a Dulles to San Juan route, looks like December prices tend to go up in the $600 range. Fares bottom out/get lower in the summer, but in the winter over the holidays? You might end up seeing lower or specials, but I'd be a little surprised if it gets significantly lower.

Best answer: I live in Puerto Rico and I can tell you $350 round trip from the east coast is as good as any visitors we've had have found tickets for.

Response by poster: Thank you - just booked at $331 RT after all fees. Zyxwvut - first round is on me if we are anywhere near you :)
