Long time asthmatic here. My portible nebulizer is over 10 years old and is coming to an end of its life. In that time nebulizers have gotten cheap (150-250 USD) in price without insurance and have changed dramatically. Ultrasonic technology and the appeal of 5 minute treatments has me very interested.

I have the prescription and my medications will work with either a compressor or the ultrasonic and my doctor really had no preference. I'm not worried about cost but do worry about new things and portability.

I've looked at reviews and talked to sales reps. But would like to know if any of you had made the switch to ultrasonic and and of its benefits and downsides or complaints you have over a compressor portable neb. If you have a brand you like over another brand let me know that too!. My nebulizer needs to be light and have a battery. I'd also prefer if I could use an outlit and car charger to use it but it isn't absolutely necessary.

Thanks. Weeze

You haven't gotten any replies so I'll throw out my non-doctor two cents.

Are you sure that you need a nebulizer? This is kind of rare for adults. Nebulizers are generally used for small children or the elderly who aren't able to master the use of the hand held metered dose inhalers for medication. You might ask you doctor about switching to metered inhalers or possibly getting a second opinion from another doctor.

This might save you a lot of money and inconvenience. Doctors (and patients) can get set in their ways and not explore new improved treatment techniques.
