How do I get the word out about my friend's auction?

My friend is selling his rare signed guitar... It's signed and played by Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo fame. What's the best way I can get the word out? I was thinking of submitting it to sites like BoingBoing and the like, places which would carry the story of a guitar with a nice story behind it being sold, but a lot of the places frown on "self-linking". Since it's not me selling it, I dunno if that would apply. Any suggestions?

BoingBoing seems safe as far as fear of callouts go - if the crew doesn't think it's appropriate, it doesn't go up.

Response by poster: I've submitted it to BoingBoing/Joystiq/Engadget/Waxy/Digg/mono ffwd, so hopefully one/all will pick this up. Any other suggestions?

The SA-Mart on SomethingAwful would pay big bucks indeed.

Response by poster: Great idea, but unfortunately I don't have an SA account, and am not gonna pay $10 for it when other communities exist for free and fufill my needs. If you are a member though Jairus, I'd appreciate it though!

We Mefites have just been told you're selling it on eBay.

If the word's still not out enough, what about searching for web sites devoted to noteworthy guitars or video games?

Encourage people to add it to their watch list in the listing and hopefully you can get onto Ebay Pulse.

Best answer: If you want to hit the video game blogs, I run PressTheButtons.com and would be glad to feature it. It's the kind of rare autographed thing I like to feature from time to time. E-mail me if you're interested (address is in my profile).

Response by poster: Thanks, that'd be wonderful! I sent a copy to your email with more details, and thanks again.

Best answer: I'll run it by my editor and see if he'll have me throw it on to GearLive (Or their gaming site, PlayFeed. GearLive's not as big as Engadget/Gizmodo/other tech sites, but I'll also mention it to Brian (the editor) at Kotaku for you. And I'll toss it towards Gizmodo's ed, too.

Email me if you have any other useful details, too, and to remind me (in profile). (A few of the eds aren't on AIM right this second.)

Response by poster: Wow, that's great disillusioned. I've emailed you as well, and hopefully any/all of those sites will be able to carry it as well. BTW, my friend Orson (who's selling it) is so excited it's getting exposure now heh. Thanks.
