Best-FASTEST Apple repair shop in NYC?

My son's MacBook Pro's headphone jack is screwed up and he needs to have it replaced. The laptop's still on the warranty. He's already been told (by a place we took it to called Rossman's, before we realized it's still on the warranty) that he needs to replace that part of the Logic Board that holds that jack.

He is in pain contemplating giving up the laptop (he's on semester break from college right now and is therefore home in NYC and this is exactly when he has free time to work on his music) so we want to take it to the place that is known for good repairs and FAST.

Tekserve?
Dr. Brendan?
That other one around University Place and maybe 12th or 13th street? (can't think of the name) (oh never mind, they're out of business)
Mike's Tech Shop?

Most important = Fast Turnaround

Thank you!

Not really what you're looking for, but the fastest fix for this will be to go to a store and buy a usb audio interface. Something like this USB adapter will give you a new headphone jack without a repair. I'm sure B&H or JR Music World would have something similar on the shelf.

why not just the apple genius bar if it's in warranty? i've almost always gotten while-i-wait repairs there. they're also probably the only ones who will have the part in stock right there.

Response by poster: we're still on the warranty it says on the Apple website, until August 2016.

Make a reservation at the Genius Bar before you head over to the Apple Store, otherwise you might be in for a lot of waiting.

I've used Tekserve for years. They are terribly helpful -- once, rather than have me pay out fees to service an out of warranty computer they explained what parts I needed and even printed me out (extensive) instructions. I've never had to wait very long to see a tech, they do Apple Care repairs, and the last time I called Apple about an Apple Care covered issue they actually sent me there rather than the Apple Store. If you know what is wrong with it, call ahead and ask them about turnaround time and if they have the piece is stock or if it's something that requires being sent off to Apple. They know their stuff.

I've had good experiences with TekServe as well. However, when I had to get my laptop repaired by them this October, the turnaround time was a week longer than the original estimate because they'd had to send it back to Apple to get the logic board replaced, and Apple was having some kind of shortage of logic boards and couldn't give TekServe an estimate on when they'd get the part. I would still choose the convenience of walking into TekServe over having to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and going into a holiday-week-crowded AppleStore, but I don't know if the logic board inventory is still short or if Apple services the computers they take in for repairs directly faster than the ones TekServe sends them.

I would also go to the Apple Store. It's very easy to make an appointment online.

I would always try Genius Bar appointment first. If it's under warranty they may just replace it for you. I just had an *out of warranty* MacBook Pro logic board replaced for $310 in 4 days. So, being under warranty, your situation will be better than mine!
