I loooove Candy Crush. What are some other browser-based games I'd like?

I got sucked into the Candy Crush vortex and hard. I'm even head over heels for Candy Crush Soda Saga. But I want some games to play on my computer, too, not just on my phone.

I like match-3 games and puzzle games and some kinds of light strategy games. I loved Chain Reaction/Drop 7, and I have already gleefully made my way through the PopCap oeuvre. Right now my priorities are that the game: 1) is free 2) is playable as a desktop (well, laptop) game, *not* just as mobile app 3) does not require a Facebook log-in. I've played a bunch of games on Armor Games, but I'm looking for specific suggestions. Web-based is great, also happy to download. (Mac, if it matters.)

Historically, games like Snood and Diamonds brought me great joy, as did dozens of shareware games of the mid-'90s. I don't like tower defense games, though, and I'm not looking for anything multiplayer. Bring on the distractions!

I love both games by Doublespeak -- Gridland is a match-3 with a very clever day-and-night system that adds layers of strategy and addictiveness; A Dark Room starts out as a clicker game of sorts, but blossoms into other things.

In case you missed it, 2048 is pretty great.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is truly awesome. IMHO, none of the popular match-3s have come close to matching it in terms of fun and strategy, and that includes sequels written by the same company.

Get 10 is horrifyingly addictive.

Try Wayward if you're up for something different and challenging. It's a "roguelike", a dungeon crawler with environments randomly generated by the computer, and completely turn-based. Also, if your character dies, you have to start over with a brand-new character. It's even more hardcore than Dark Souls. =^..^=

Chuzzle
Diamond Digger Saga (can link with FB, not necessary)
Bubble Mania (called a Bejewled clone but I hate Bejeweled and love Bubble Mania)

Some of the best games ever were the old DOS games.

BRIX was the best - wonder if it's out there in internet land anywhere -

Does anyone remember Commander Keen? IOW, are there any other old farts out there who are nostalgic for the old stuff?

I'm trying some of those listed above and so far I really, really like 2048. I play Bejeweled every night, but not the way you're supposed to play it, I think. At some point a couple of years ago I crossed some magic number and got a new game as a bonus - it's called Twilight. There's a question mark I click on and then the "Classic" button changes to "Twilight" and I click that and go. Basically what it does is make the jewels scroll up and off the board when you make a link and then, the next time you make a link, the jewels scroll down off the board. Great fun. I play it slowly, like a strategy game, because I can't do speedy stuff, and right now - knock on wood - I've hit >3 million points! I love it, even though I know I'm going to crash any day now.

Anyway, thanks for the fun links, and if anyone ever comes across BRIX you should give it a try.
