Help me mess with Texas

Help me mess with Texas. I'm looking for images of life in the lone star state to help feed a creative project.

I need vivid media resources of all kinds to help get a feel for the culture: photos, visual art, flickr streams, web links, music, sounds, video, literary works, poetry, anecdotes etc.

Subject matter can run the gamut from blatant cliché to very specific and personal. I'm interested volume, folks. Media that won't fit in the thread can be sent directly to: do.mess.with.texas@gmail.com

Does this stuff have to be copyright free or not?

Use google image search and use the Creative Commons search for less-than-copyright material.

Response by poster: Copyright is not an issue. None of the material will be for public display.

Google images is OK, but tends towards results from the generic. Which is good, but I'm looking for a more diverse collection of stuff.

Thank you, popechunk, for the picture.

If you didn't already, look at the video in this thread. I'm sure you can find some Texas in there.

Search on 'Texas,' or specific places and things in Texas, etc. in the Library of Congress's Prints and Photographs collection. Use the preview function to see thumbnails. You'll have a huge selection of older, generally copyright free photos. Occasionally you'll find one you like, but there will be only a thumbnail-sized version. 7 times out of 10 you can get a larger one but the only way I've found to do it is messing with the URL.

This stuff is more historical, but it's a really wonderful resource.

Since there are 15100+ photos tagged with Texas on flickr, maybe you should look at http://flickr.com/photos/tags/texas/interesting instead.
