What are some great songs/albums released this year (2014) by people over 40?

I am compiling a list of the best pop music released this year by musicians over 40.
I already know about The Both, Marianne Faithful's new album, and Lucinda William's new album. Who else? No genre restriction, but please just suggest cool things you actually like (ie nobody say U2 come on y'all).

Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood - Juice

Edit: Longtime fan of MMW and John Scofield, saw them together at the 9:30 Club for the first time recently - excellent, excellent show. Scofield is a freakin' wizard.

Oh, and the New Pornographers, most of whom I'm fairly certain are over the hill.

Jose James released his fourth album this year "While You Were Sleeping." It is a must hear if you are at all jazz and/or R&B inclined. All his albums are excellent.

Oops, I misread your question, disregard my Jose James post, he's just under 40, but still worth a listen. Sorry. (I thought you wanted recommendations for listeners over 40 :) )

Response by poster: José James (born January 20, 1978)

Just 4 more years til he qualifies! ;)

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Had no idea King Creosote was an oldie.

I can't find Cibo Matto's ages on Wikipedia, but considering they released their first albums in the late 90s, and were probably in their 20s then, they are probably close to 40 now. Their 2014 album is called Hotel Valentine.

Pink Floyd — The Endless River.

Marianne Faithfull - Give My Love to London (like the newest Leonard Cohen record it's more talk-singing, but still fantastic) here

The new already mentioned by others Leonard Cohen is a keeper. here

The New Pornographers are indeed over 40. here

Prince released 2 new albums this year, they are both very good, Art Official Age is the better of the 2 (in my opinion). here

I don't know how old they are, but they aren't kids... Pearl & The Beard. here

Best answer: Vashti Bunyan - "Heartleap"

Her career is inspiring and sparse, only three full-length albums in 44 years. This album reduces me to tears in the best possible way even after 50+ listening sessions.
