Joke's on me.

A friend is looking for a specific joke for a eulogy. Their question is below.

I am writing a eulogy for my grandfather and at one point when I was little, he told a joke about people, maybe brothers, who couldn't blow out a candle -- one blew up, one to the left, one down, etc. It eventually ended with someone blowing the candle out correctly (not just touching the wick as in this joke). I would really like to use this particular joke in the eulogy but do not remember the details. Can anyone help ID this joke?

A friend of mine in middle school used to tell this joke. I don't remember the punchline but in her version it was a family of mice. I don't know if that's relevant to the joke but maybe it'll help in searching?

Mice appear to not be relevant.

Response by poster: They say:

I . . . don't think that was the punchline.

But the setup was similar except the college education part.

ARGH I was like 6 years old MAYBE when he told the joke and blew out the candle in the restaurant and told the waitress that it was the wind.

Then did it again and told her it was the wind again.

If you Google variations of crooked/twisted + mouth/face + family + candle, you can find several versions, including some charming YouTube videos. Here's one: http://drjeanandfriends.blogspot.com/2012/02/crooked-mouth-family.htm

More googling suggests that the punchline is someone licking their fingers and physically snuffing the candle out.

This -- Les Dawson - Blankety Blank - Blowing Out The Candle -- appears to be an old joke about a family that can't blow out a candle. Ends with a vicar snuffing the wick, though.

I heard the joke as knowing how to blow out the candle was the benefit of a college education.
