Turn on your lovelight! Headlight problem

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot with 150,000 miles. I have a problem with the headlights.

On the normal headlight setting both inside and outside headlights light up, but the passenger side lowbeam is dim.

When I set it to high beams, the driver's side is correct, but on the passenger side, both headlights go dark.

Anyone have any tips on what to start troubleshooting?

Have you changed the bulb? It sounds like you have a dual filament bulb and it has just gone.

Response by poster: Oops, I forgot to mention I just changed the passenger side lowbeam. I tried 2 different new bulbs.

I'd be inclined to think that (assuming new bulbs as you say) that the earth connection for the headlight is corroded or iffy in some way. I'd get in there and clean all the contacts and look for an earthing point in the loom somewhere near that light - maybe on the inside of the fender?

Either that headlight is getting insufficient voltage (which can be checked with a voltmeter) or insufficient current, in which case I"d suspect the earth path - especially as it affects both modes of the light and is worse with a higher current draw requirement.
