All I want for christmas is my two sparkle shoes

We are looking for the best shoes ever to give to a 2 year old boy for christmas. the idea is that it's practical for the parents (no shoes to buy for this round!) but that they can be fun enough for a child (lights? other weird somethings?)
Shoes must NOT be lace up, bonus points for craziness otherwise. Money is no object, but we will probably spent around $60. Online ordering a plus. Thanks!
Not to be a downer but at that age kids grow out of shoes pretty fast. It sounds like a fun gift but know that it might only be a few months of fun. Sorry.
Toms are good. Check Nordstrom and 6pm. Com and Amazon for good variety.
At that age I mainly did Stride Rite and Puma.

Depends on the kid, but my brother was pretty obsessed with a pair of cowboy boots around that age.

I was obsessed with shoes that lit up when I was younger. I would go into the bathroom and turn off the lights and jump up and down. I see kids wearing them still these days. Seems like a classic choice.

Skechers makes those shoes that have lights in the sole. My 3yo insisted for 6 months that the next pair of shoes he got had to be light-up shoes (peer pressure starts early!). They are around $40 at the Skechers outlet.

If you get Crocs, get a bunch of those plastic things that you can put in the holes. Our friend's kid LOVES those. LOVES them.

Oh man, these really fit the bill. They have a plane on them, come in a cool box, have sparkly flashing red lights, are velcro, and they're orange and silver. My just-two-year-old loves them. Definitely present-worthy.
NB: they run big, so a 7 was just right for my 95th percentile two-year-old.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but how will you manage to make him try them on before you buy?

No idea what they're called and not seen them for a while but there are shoes that look like trainers (the bottom lights up) that kids can kind of glide on.. she may be too young but looked great fun..

My mom bought my niece some shoes that had squeakers in the soles and she loved them so very, very much. No one else loved them nearly as much, mind you, but the 18 month old did.

I've seen various versions of shoe wings on Etsy. They might be a fun addition to the light up/sparkly/awesome shoes you get.

Vans make some really crazy patterns, but are not so easy to get on a very small child. We got Toms for my son's indoor shoes at his school but I would NOT recommend these for regular outdoor use for a little boy - they'd tear holes in the toes immediately. If you go the regular-shoes route, get something with rubber toe caps.
If you want something wild, I vote crocs with the little things to go in the holes.
These are also some pretty crazy crocs but if it was me, I'd get plain bright-colored crocs and go for the wild accessories. Get some that will appeal to the kid, but also make his parents grin too.
Unless you want the parents to hate you forever, don't get squeaker shoes. Consider whether they'd be ok with the light-ups as well - i know the flashing lights on kids' shoes make my mom feel ill.
Finally, at age 2, I still felt that it was important for my son to have shoes with really flexible soles - they're not wild, but for practical use I love love loved the pediped Grip 'n' go shoes. But crocs are also good because they're close to indestructable, very washable, and easy on and off.

Definitely don't spend a lot of money on the shoes, he will only wear them for a few months. At that age, their feet are growing like crazy.
My suggestion is find out what cartoon character he loves and find some light up shoes with the character on it. For example, my 3 year old son lives Thomas thr Train - and Target is selling light up, no lace shoes with Thomas the Train on them currently. They also had Avengers, Ninja Turtles, etc.

Another vote for Soft Star shoes. My toddler loves them. You can pick the colors (some are shiny!) and the button motif like a star or rocket ship. Very comfy, good for feet, and made in USA.

If they're in a cold or wet climate, I'd vote for firefighter boots or truck rain boots or dinosaur snow boots. The Bogs may be past your upper price range but they were the best money I ever spent for my kid (and myself). Indestructable and cozy and super waterproof.

To help the "no shoes to buy this round" keep an eye out at Target at Kmart for the BOGO Sales. Get current size + next size up. We do this. Kid says shoes are too tight, no problem, old shoes in the donate bin, new shoes out of closet.
