Help, Book-Sleuths of AskMe!

Trying to track down a Halloween-y children's (?) book of puzzles and such. Details within.
My lady has had this book on her mind for years, and I'd love to help her find it again. Here's what she can remember about it:
- square-shaped, thin (She said it didn't have a spine, so I take it the book wasn't perfect bound.)
- illustrated
- featured a Halloween theme and/or monster characters
- featured puzzles, including seek-and-finds (She said it wasn't solely a puzzle book, though.)
- one of the puzzles asked you to find all the letters of the alphabet, one of which was hiding in a cauldron or potion
- used darker colors including green, purple, and orange--definitely not pastels or lighter colors
- from the '90s or the '80s (She used to work in a new bookstore around 2008, where she saw it for sale; hopefully that narrows it down.)
I know it's a long-shot, but I've seen you work miracles before. Any leads are appreciated.
