Nice quiet places to eat in Montreal

My girlfriend and I have an anniversary coming up and are looking for a nice, new to us, quiet place to have dinner.

We have places that we go all the time but we're looking for something a little more special than, "hey it's Friday let's go to the Indian place down the street." We're pretty open as far as type of food is concerned. Indian, Thai, Italian, French, other, whatever. The only thing that is absolutely out of the question is fish/seafood of any kind. Bonus points for vegetarian restaurants though this isn't absolutely necessary as long as there are a decent number of vegetarian choices available. (Only one of us is a vegetarian) Price range say $100 or less for two people, probably including a couple of drinks. Metro accessible would be preferred but we can drive if necessary. What are your favourite little Montreal restaurants that we've maybe never heard of?

Have you tried the restaurants along Laurier? Specifically westwards of Av Du Parc and Laurier Ouest.
Leméac is nice. Lots of other places along Laurier that are great too!

A Montreal friend took me to the vegan Aux Vivres a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. (Plus, who knew that chocolate-banana pie could be so delicious?!)

I really enjoyed Chu Chai the last time I was in town. Vegetarian sort-of-thai food.

2 vegetarians in Montreal here... we love Aux Vivres, but I wouldn't consider it quiet, and the food is awesome, but I wouldn't consider it a "special" place. ChuChai is our go-to for those special dinners, but you'd be hard pressed to get under $100 with drinks. (Maybe next door at Chuch Bistro since it's BYOB there, but I don't find the food nearly as good).
I'd suggest Lola Rosa, the one on Milton, it's a little eclectic but nice & the food is fantastic. I tried to think of places we go that aren't strictly veg. since one of you isn't, but none of them fit the criteria.

I really enjoyed Su in Verdun (Turkish), though it's probably not quite special enough. Rasoi does Indian fusion and is nice. Unless Lola Rosa has changed a lot, it's got good food but isn't really special.

[Laura in Canada, I agree that Aux Vivres doesn't fit into the quiet-intimate-evening-for-two category per se but have to say that it did feel pretty like a "special" experience for me as a visitor. (Not because I haven't been to more luxe places or other vegan restaurants but because it just was. :-) That said, it sounds like your two suggestions are more fitting recommendations for the OP!]

La Lumière is a really lovely place, and does very good vegan fare. and they're usually quiet by dinner—they do most of their business at lunch. though I'm not pretty sure they're not licensed for drinks.

Chuch Bistro has shut down; there's just the fancy place now.

Résonance Café is also very good. spectacularly good vegan food and a show every night of the week, starting at 9.

Invitation V on Bernard is vegan and quite classy.

The Lola Rosa on Milton is typically full of students and noisy, but the one on Parc feels much nicer to me.

Carte Blanche
Small, romantic, delicious.
The chef even stopped by to say hello.
