recover me!

I accidentally just deleted all the texts between me and one of my contacts. I desperately want them back! Unfortunately, I have not backed up my phone lately. Please tell me how I can get those texts back! I have an iPhone 5 running 8.0.2 on AT&T.

Is it possible to ask your contact to send them to you somehow? You may be hosed otherwise.

Were they texts or iMessages? (We're you sending them to another iPhone user?)

You might be able to recover iMessages using the messages desktop app.

How recently have you backed up your phone to iTunes? One solution would be to restore from the most recent backup, but you would stand to lose important apps/photos, etc., since your last backup. And if your last backup was months ago, then you're obviously not going to get back all the messages you deleted.

do you have icloud backup turned off? go in to settings and check your icloud options and see when it says the last backup date was. you might be able to just restore the phone, and restore the icloud backup and get them back.
