Where should I look for a rental in or around Las Vegas?

I'm may need to relocate soon to Las Vegas. I've never been there. I'm going to rent initially, maybe buy eventually. I need to narrow down my search areas, figure out where to look. More inside for my criteria.

I mostly work from home so I can be anywhere in the region.

I'm currently paying around $1,600 per month for an apartment. I'd like to pay substantially less than that if possible.

I like bookstores and coffee shops.

I shop at the natural food market.

In my current town, one of my favorite places to go to study or get some work done is a small, independently owned cafe that has sandwiches and organic muffins. The people who work there know me. It's chill.

I like comics. Comic book stores are cool. Also bookstores. Record stores that sell vinyl.

I'm just trying to paint a picture here.

I have an indoor/outdoor cat. I'd prefer to keep him indoors 100% for his own safety, but he'd be miserable, so I let him out sometimes. I had him chipped. Anyway, I'm looking for a relatively quiet street.

I'd love to find a house and not an apartment complex. I know rentals like that are rare, but it would be great if I could find one.

So when I look around on Craigslist, where should I focus?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Henderson. But indoor cat, because Coyotes.

Boulder City/Lake Meade, is adorable and pretty, but remote from Whole Foods.

Near UNLV would be good for most of your list, specifically east of Maryland between Flamingo and Tropicana. There are a lot of little cul de sac neighborhoods that should be low-traffic enough for your cat. You might have to leave the neighborhood to find a natural food market, but IMO the quality and variety of ethnic food markets in that area makes up for that.
