Looking for a vertically striped scarf

I need to find a scarf that looks like this in the next week and a half. Any ideas?

My boyfriend and I are attending a party where we'll switch off between being Number Six and Number Two from the Prisoner. Problem: It is apparently very difficult to find a scarf similar to the scarf Number Two wears for less than a hundred dollars. I don't have time to knit one myself, I tried ebay and was outbid by a bot, and scarves.com has surprisingly few knit scarves.

It doesn't have to be perfect, but something with at least two of the colors and vertical stripes would be nice. My research has told me that this style is called a college scarf or an academic scarf in the UK, but I'm in the US and have a week and a half.

Get a plain navy scarf, sew green and white ribbons onto it?

Or even use some kind of colored masking tape or duct tape, maybe.

Oh, you could even buy ribbons in the proper colors and then hot glue them on - super easy.

Response by poster: I'm going to say that my price limit for this scarf is $50. Sorry for not putting that in the original question.

I think i might try the sewing/gluing ribbons idea as a last resort... Which I'm already pretty close to.

Just navy with lengthwise stripes:
navy infinity scarf with white stripes on Amazon
silk Ralph Lauren scarf, navy with white stripes on ebay

Best answer: Get one of these and cut off the Michigan logo?

Best answer: navy white striped scarf on etsy (has fringe)

Also, maybe you could call these people and see if you can just order the fabric then cut it as you wish.

Try to find iron-on bias tape in the stripe colors you want, then iron them onto a plain scarf. If you can't find it in the right colors, get fusible interfacing and bias tape in the right colors and do in that way, or sew if you can. A wide variety of bias tap can be found at any craft store, generally speaking. It will be much more matte than ribbon.

Yes, this is a UK style college/school scarf. For completeness, here is the response to a similar request. Luke Eyres in Cambridge will let you design your own custom college style scarf with a minimum order of 6 I believe.

You might go to your local fabric store and browse the various striped fabrics, even if it's not knit.

I went as Number Two for Halloween a few years ago and ended up taking a black/white striped scarf and using fabric paint to put the yellow stripe onto it.

Also IIRC I couldn't find a black/white striped scarf so I sewed one out of black/white striped cotton weave fabric, not knit. White/yellow fusible bias tape on a black fabric might work out just as well.

This would be very simple to sew if you have access to a sewing machine and can buy navy, white, and yellow interlock knit (t-shirt material). You could sew it by hand of course but it would take a bit of time.

Yep, a uni scarf, like this one from York. I have one from Reading, and it has lasted years -- wool, soft and warm. I love it!

I would go through this Wikipedia page of university color schemes to find the one you want, and then go to that university's web site and buy it.

Response by poster: Thanks, folks! I ended up buying this scarf after the U of M suggestion ended up being out of stock. I was originally worried that the navy was going to be too obviously blue against the rest of the ensemble (which is black), but evidently it's not noticeable unless I point it out to people, so I'm taking it as a win.
